Once in a while, we, as consumers, witness partnerships of big name companies that offer us products that either fall short of expectations or thrill and delight us in many ways. Apparently, the cellular phone industry is not excluded from this trend. For most, if not all of us, the names Sony and Ericsson are brands that need no further introduction.

Hard to believe that it was more than a decade ago that I had the fortune of having an Ericsson handset with a one liner monochrome display. Though packed with not a lot of features, even at that time, I appreciated it's tough and masculine feel and clear signal.

Now, of course, Sony is another brand name that we have come to love and has been a household name for as long as I can remember. Many a time we drooled over their television sets and stereo components at home and appliance center display windows. For many years it was the name to beat when it came to gadgets, and are still worthy benchmarks for all consumers and competition alike up to this day.

So when the names Sony and Ericsson were finally merged into one giant entity, many expectations and eyebrows were raised. Optimists eagerly awaited what cool and nifty features the researchers at Sony Ericsson can come up with while detractors (Nokia users perhaps) of course didn't think much of said partnership.

So, to see whether this partnership is worthy of a second glance, let's take a close look at one of their products, particularly the Sony Ericsson W960.

Sony Ericsson W960 Camera and Display

What better way to judge a cellphone than to look at the specs and nitty gritty of its camera capabilities. Quite ironic but it is what most consumers look for in cellphones nowadays. In fact I have come across many who crossed out certain handsets from their wish lists after hearing bad phone camera reviews.

Boasting of a 3.2 megapixel shutter complete with autofocus with a dedicated Macro mode and LED flash (dual in fact), and the ability to capture images at a maximum of 2048 x 1536 pixels, the W960 promises clear photos of your friend's envious faces once you whip out this phone from your pocket and start clicking. For the novice user, there is of course the auto focus feature which you can turn off once you get the hang of it and decide you can do better than the phone's focal judgment.

Another standard is the automatic white balance. If you want to start getting a little artsy, the W960 offers a wide range of photo editing capabilities such as rendering your shots as black and white or sepia, or even applying solarization effects. If this is not enough for you, the W960 can even capture videos of your YouTube-worthy karaoke antics. It is with this feature that this unit falls short though, as it can only capture at 15 frames per second when set at the maximum video resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. If this would prove too choppy for you, you can opt to shoot at 30 fps although only at very low resolutions such as QCIF - 176 x 144. Something has to give I guess.

The length of video you can capture of course is dependent on the phone's available memory. Although this is sufficient for the average user, it's shortcomings regarding video capturing is quite of a let-down when compared to its competition.

Another disappointment would be the W960's TFT display. Although the screen size is ample at 2.6 diagonal inches, it only supports 262K colors QVGA at 240 x 320 pixels. This is a shame considering its camera capabilities. The screen is transreflective though which means it performs well even under bright sunlight.

Sony Ericsson W960 Design and Accessories

What I consider a plus with the W960 is its design. Although its casing is made out entirely of plastic, it feels sturdy and looks elegant as well. With phone dimensions of only 109 x 55 x 16 mm, this Sony Ericsson handset would fit comfortably into anyone's hand. Lefty users will have a hard time with the location of the jog wheel though as it seems it is designed with the general public of right handed users in mind. Users weary of supposedly “innovative” keypad designs which are just cell phone design novelty more often than not would greatly appreciate the W960's straightforward yet ergonomic keypad. And if that still proves too hard for jotting down messages, you can opt to use the virtual QUERTY keyboard on the phone's display. Or simply write down your messages using the supplied stylus pen for which the phone has great character recognition. Useful for those of us who can't seem to understand our own bad handwriting?

The W960 can also accommodate after-purchase accessories such as Bluetooth headphones and hands-free sets, portable speakers, and better-than-supplied stylus packs - pretty much what consumers might look for to accessorize their smart phones.

Perhaps it would be wrong to judge the W960 for it's lackluster performance in the video and display department. After all, this is a Walkman phone we're talking about, and this is where the strength of the phone lies – and where the Sony legacy comes in.

First of all, the W960 boasts of an 8gig on board memory – at par with the Apple iPhone. This alone is more than enough for a long, boring ride out of town, taking also into consideration that the W960 promises music playback for 27 hours when fully charged.

Another thing I love about this mobile phone (most people will probably love the W960 for it) is that once connected to a computer, the phone's memory is recognized as an external drive much like when a USB flash drive is plugged into the machine. This means no more fiddling for hours with any proprietary software. To get your music from the computer to your phone, simply drag and drop - via USB or Bluetooth.

The W580i is another product by the Sony and Ericsson combined effort. The unit's stylish and no frills design utilizes a slide opening mechanism and is available in equally attractive silver / orange and black / orange color combinations. The new Walkman logo right beneath the screen alone is enough to make most mobile phone aficionados' hearts start pumping. Most especially true for the music loving mobile phone user looking for seamless cell phone and media player integration. The W580i's music player can play back not only MP3 files but AAC, AAC+, eAAC+ and WMA files as well, making it versatile. So Apple users would certainly delight in this fact as a lot of Mac users prefer the AAC format.

The W580i fails though in the memory department; providing only 12 mega bytes of built in memory. This is ironic since the W580i is targeted at the music-lugging demography, and 12 Mb is obviously not enough. As expected, the unit does have a memory slot for users who want to upgrade their storage with a Micro M2 memory card. Good thing that the W5801 has its own stereo FM tuner. Still, for its purpose the internal memory should have been enough for at least a decent collection of tracks.

Sony Ericsson W580i Camera and Display

The Sony Ericsson W580i houses a 2 mega pixel camera with digital zoom capable of recording still images and videos. And the built in camera in this unit is very reliable. It may not be the best in the market, but what you are getting is certainly great for its price. Bright outdoor shots have sharp details and pictures taken at overcast environments sill look decent. But as expected with camera phones, indoor photos do not render well and the picture noise level is noticeable. But all in all, picture taking with the W580i's camera is a pleasurable experience. It even comes with its own set of menus dedicated to the camera and video functions.

The user has the option of taking photographs in VGA, 1 mega pixel, or 2 mega pixel sizes. Additional shooting modes such as panorama and burst are also offered. Shots can be tweaked a bit more with the camera application's white balance, color effects, and others. A nice addition also is the photo blogging feature which allows the user to not only send images via MMS messaging but can also publish their photos directly from the phone to a blog site. Now that's mobility, and may get a big chunk of the web logging market. Photos are displayed well with the W580i's 240 x 320 pixel resolution screen.

With the W580i, Sony Ericsson refuses to be outdone in the design department. It looks stylishly clever with a minimalist flair. With the slider closed, the façade is only occupied by the glorious screen, a large D-pad and a couple of buttons on each side. The orange accents give the W580i its youthful flair, especially with the Walkman logo at the center of the phone's width. Once you slide the W580i open, the ergonomically designed striking orange keypad is revealed. At this point though, the fun stops. As upon great inspection you will notice the frailty of the phone's keypad. This is a shame as with the unit targeted towards the youthful market, heavy duty texting is sure to occur.

This is no good when your keypad has the tendency to crack. And the slider is definitely no toughie either and has the tendency to quickly accumulate dust in between the two halves of the phone. The D-pad though is a joy to use. This is as should be considering that the D-pad will experience heavy use when navigating though songs and other files. When you don't have the luxury to look at the phone's D-pad when doing certain activities during music playback, therefore rendering it hard to navigate through your tracks, you may choose to just shake things up, literally. The W580i has a clever little feature called the Shake Control that allows the listener to skip to the next track by just pressing on the Walkman logo and then shaking the phone. This little feature proves very useful indeed, especially during athletic activities like jogging or biking.

Largely based on the highly successful T610, the two new handsets has got both style and uncompromising functionality which boasts of a great number of features the targeted business class consumer will definitley look for.

Now, Sony Ericsson has consistently put out unit after unit of well received handsets for quite some time already and with the T270 and T280, it looks like they are bent on solidifying their mark in the cell phone industry. Both units share a lot of similar functions though each with a definite target market in mind, with the T280 serving as the big brother between the two when it comes to features and capabilities. It is in that light the it would be the sensible thing to take a more intimate and closer look at the Sony Ericsson T280.

The T280's brushed metal finish houses a 1.3 mega pixel camera with 4x digital zoom. A definite upgrade from previous models of Sony Ericsson housing VGA cameras. That being said however, a 1.3 mega pixel camera is still a little bit behind compared to the cameras of recent mobile phones from its competing brands. But images taken with the T280 still come out clear enough even when printed on standard photo papers at 3 inches x 4 inches. And if you choose to view your shots without having to print, you may do so without hitches, thanks to the T280's 1.7 inch TFT screen displaying up to 65K colors at 128 x 160 pixels. And what's more, the T280 lets you take pictures that you can send to your friends via the phone's Bluetooth support.

Moving your way through the T280's menu is effortless because of its navigation key and the available shortcuts. And texting couldn't be easier with the predictive text input technology which is an intelligent software wherein typing words on a mobile phone is made easier. This is achieved with the phone utilizing a large database of words so everytime you start typing, the phone guesses the word you are trying to encode. This is very useful especially for a phone designed for the businessman on the go.

Design has always been Sony Ericsson's greatest appeal. And the T280 is definitely a phone you could stare at with great pleasure. It's color combination of silver on black and copper on silver, available for both the T270 and T280, gives off a sense of warmth and maturity. But do not get these units wrong. They are not all about serious business though, as like it's targeted audience, these phones know how to be fun. With capabilities of MP3 and having a built in FM radio, the T280 is capable of using MP3 playback of tunes in your playlist as its ringtone. The provided ear buds does not sound so bad either as is the pitfall of most MP3 capable cell phones. But the good thing about this unit is that in case you find the headphone's sound still leaving a lot to be desired, you may use your existing headphones with a 1.5 inch stereo jack. Or if not, the T280 has built in stereo speakers that although does not sound all that well, is a rather enjoyable experience.

Your tunes, images, videos and other files all share residence in the T280's built in phone memory space of just a miniscule 10 mega bytes. That is not much and the phone's internal memory can easliy be filled up. It has no slot for when you want to expand the phone's memory slot so you must choose what you want to bring with very well.

So, with the possibilty of making your T280 double as a portable media player virtually impossible, it does have a lot of charm and functions to help you while away the time. So fret not, for there is of course the built in stereo FM tuner which provides excellent and clear radio signal.

Other must have features for phone targeted at the business man like a calculator, phone book, tasks manager and calculator is rightfully present. And if you are up for a little bit of fun after all that work, the Sony Ericsson T280 is able to play downloaded games.

There was a time when the Sony Ericsson K800 was the camera phone on everybody's wish list. With its three mega pixel camera and a host of other features, the K800 was the handset to beat and top for many. But with the advent of five mega pixel cameras like Nokia's N95, which proved to be a very popular model amongst the cell phone and gadget aficionados alike, and the competition for the high end consumer market getting stiffer, Sony Ericsson decided to go with the flow and released the Sony Ericsson K850.

It is replacing the popular line of Cyber-shots it seems, and it is apparent though that the K850 took from the Cyber-shot when it comes to its form and function. This design was already started with the K810 and is now greatly improved upon; giving the consumers the style and function they need in the busy urban jungle.

Sony Ericsson K850 Camera and Display

As mentioned earlier, to be able to compete and probably get ahead in the cell phone consumer war, the developers over at Sony Ericsson designed the K850. It is a 5 mega pixel camera phone capable of capturing photos at a maximum resolution of 2592 х 1944 pixels and record video at 30 frames per second QVGA. That video frame rate standard is a lot more than most handsets offering only 15 frames per second.

Of course picture editing software is present for the user to be able to enhance or embellish the already excellent photos taken with the K850's lens, which has auto focus, unlike other models currently in offering. And just like with the previous "K" series phones, you can expect a lot of the Cyber-shot devices integrated with the K850. Although not up to par with Nokia's N95 which has the better VGA resolution, still the K850's QVGA works like a charm and is sufficient for most users, especially for uploading or streaming videos over the internet.

The 2.2 inch display of the K850 though is a treat to view pictures or even videos with as a lot of details can still be seen thanks to its 240 x 320 pixel resolution. Although still small compared to the N95's 2.6 inch display screen, the one on the K850 will be more than enough for those upgrading from the usual under 2 inches of other models.

With regards to the Sony Ericsson K850's design, a lot of consumers will be pleased. This is strange as most users complain that navigation keys are almost always situated too near the number two key that integrating it would only render it worse. And it really takes a lot of getting used to.

PROS: The 5 mega pixel camera works like a charm and the video resolution offers more detail than most camera phones. The integration of the camera to the phone is seamless, giving this handset the feel of a cell phone “and” real digital camera, rather than being a phone “with” a camera.

CONS: Probably the most common gripe with this phone would be the placement of the navigation pad. Although it looks really clean with the end result having less button clutter, the payback is in the usage which makes navigating through the K850's menu rather hard.

Overall: Taking into considerations all of the Sony Ericsson K850's pros and cons though, it is overall a great tool to have and the bad can easily be overlooked when considering all the great features.

Nokia N73: Nokia's famous N series open new door ways for the next generation multimedia cell phones. N73 is successor to N70, which already attracted large number of buyers since it was introduced first.

Nokia N73 has got a beautiful sporty look and a bit of variety is available as far as the color of the cell phone is concerned. We saw silver combination with the plum one. And a stylish looking white with metallic red. The cell comes in physical measurements of 4.3 by 1.9 by 0.7 inches and weight of about 4 ounces. It would seem quiet bulky to the readers but it is fairly sleek and it feels good while in hand.

The cell phone got camera shutter key on the right spine followed by a volume control which also acts like zoom in/out function key for the pictures. The mini SD card expansion slot is right at the bottom which seems to be good rather than the same feature to be placed on the back of the battery, inside the cell phone.

The high quality diagonally measured 2.4 inch screen show 262,144 colors at resolution of 240x320 pixels. The screen is fairly readable in bright sunlight. Nokia N73 is equipped with massive 3.2 mega pixel camera which has been placed on the back. Self-portraits and video conferencing can be done via a VGA camera which is on the upper right side, at the front of the cell phone. Appreciating picture quality of an already 3.2 mega pixel camera would seem ridiculous.

The quad band N73 supports more than enough formats for music playing MP3, AAC, WMA, m4a, and eAAC+. The audio quality is excellent.

Nokia N73's battery lasted for more than 5 hours while talking continuously and more than 14 days while being in standby mode. So it is obvious that N73 has got one of the best cell phone batteries till date.

The cell comes in box rich with basic accessories like adaptor, USB cable for synchronization with PC, a mini SD card to extend the approx 40mb built in memory, wrist strap and stereo head set etc. Spending approx $600 for a cell phone may seem over spending, but for a cell phone like N73, we can do that.

Nokia 5300: During the first quarter of 2006, Sony Ericsson clearly dominated cell phone industry because of its music cell phones. The domination continued because there was no such true competitor. But later on we found famous manufacturers followed the trend and introducing music cell phones. Nokia released its 5300 to break down Sony Ericsson's music cell phone market.

5300 looks a bit bulky with size measurements of 3.6 by 1.9 by 0.8 inches but its feather light with weight just above 3.5 ounces. The Xpress cell phone looks good in red/white or traditional black/white combinations. The slider functionality works perfect.

The brilliant screen of music Xpress measures 2 inches and support 262k colors at massive resolution of 320x240 pixel. Like all music cell phones, the most common control keys are placed perfectly for ease of use. The music keys lie on the left spine while volume and camera control keys lie on the right spine. The camera lies on the back of cell phone along with a mirror for cell portraits. The expansion slot is also there but its inside the cell phone after removing the battery.

The 1.3 mega pixel camera works well with image capturing as well as video recording. The cell phone supports Blue tooth as well as USB connection. The internal memory available to the user is absolutely ridiculous. Considering Nokia standards, 5MB seems to be a joke with a cell phone customer.

The music cell phone has quality speakers for excellent sound production.

The quad band supports Edge networks. The sealed box contains necessary software suits and connective adaptors for easy usage.

Nokia 5300 battery also seem to be not up to the standards what Nokia normally sets. 3.5 hour of talk time and 9 days of standby time is enough but still incomparable with music Xpress's other fascinating features and quality.

Overall, it has been a good start by Nokia in music cell phones but it also has some cons which should be considered before spending hard earned bucks.

Nokia 3220: We got yet another youthful handset from Nokia and this time its even better than everything else Nokia aimed for young cell phone freaks.

The pretty cool looking cell phone is measured 4.11x1.74x0.74 inches and weighs just a little over 3 ounces. The weight is something quiet rare as compared to other handsets by Nokia. The cell phone fits well in jeans and any other type of pocket. With Nokia logo on something, don't worry about anything crashing. The cell phone is compact the keys are adjacent and engineered well. So does the five way scroll pad. However it seems to be a bit smaller than usual. One can change skins of the cell phone. Original from Nokia are available for this particular handset so one can show off a new cell phone every day.

The unique feature we saw is the four rubber grips on the side of the cell phone which illuminate red and green with the rings and call placing. You can hover around with lots of tricks to blink them in an eye catching way. The rubber also protects the cell phone spines if you drop it accidentally. Like in Nokia 3200, designing own faceplate is no problem with the 3220. This would cost you additional 14 bucks.

The color display screen measures 1.5 inches and can show upto 65K colors which is enough for game playing and other java features. A vga camera is also there to work around with snaps. Like other cell phones, the lens is on the back of the cell phone with no flash.

Nokia 3220 provides conventional set of features to the user. 500 contact phone book along with additional 250 on the SIM card, is enough for the most social person.

The cell phone is sync able with PC. The 7 polyphonic ring tones are good to the ears of teens.

We found no confirmed information about the battery life. Even then, the cell phone has typical battery of Nokia 1100. which can give you a good idea, how long would it last on a single complete charge.

The overall features of the cell phone look cool. The rubber illuminating lights is something which is eye catching, and that's why it is attracting teens community towards itself.

PROS: Probably one of the best mobile phones to come out from Nokia, its features is comparable with the leader of the N-series, the N95, and in some cases surpasses some of its features. It would have been wonderful to incorporate the powerful xenon flash with the video recording capabilities and not just with still photography.

Overall: On the whole, there really is not much to be said on the downside of the N82 because all its features simply overwhelm whatever shortcomings it has. The use of S60v3 FP1 operating system extends the life of this stable platform. To characterize the N82, it is simple, quick and very powerful! It's a good and effective design that can either be considered "macho-industrial" or feminine chic, depending on who is holding it. This means it fits both sexes and therefore greatly increases its marketability.

Nokia N70 Camera and Display

On the display front of the Nokia N70, although good on all accounts, it left a lot to be desired. Nokia has proven themselves better at this many times over in the past and it was quite a disappointment that considering the advances in cell phone technology these days, the N70's TFT active display of 176 x 208 pixels is quite average. This is just a small gripe, but when viewed side by side with competing smart phones, and even with the Nokia N90 which was released earlier, the difference will be quite apparent. But it is quite remarkable to say the least that average resolution aside - the display can be viewed perfectly at different angles. This means no squinting through glare when using the N70 under bright, outdoor conditions.

The N70 is equipped with a 2 mega pixel (MP) camera which is decent but falls short when compared to the earlier N90 model, which boasted a lens with the Carl Zeiss label. Now, this is not significant to the average clicker, but most professional photographers will be quite disappointed. It does however take good photos, with the flash helpful in a lot of cases. But the reaction is slow and the macro mode falls short of expectations.

It is also an unpleasant surprise to find that the camera does not offer auto focus, which is very important for shooting pictures on the fly. The N70 also comes with a new photo viewing application and picture editor, as is already becoming a standard among camera equipped phones nowadays. Music playback can accompany your picture viewing, which is not necessarily useful, but it is there if you need it.

This mobile phone's video capturing capabilities have been improved, with the duration of video recording limited to the free memory space, of which the N70 has not a lot of even with the included 64Mb card. It lets you shoot video at 352 x 288 pixels and in various formats including MP4. It also supports video calls which work with both 3G and GSM, with the ability to use either the front or rear camera. You can even opt to use or send a still picture to the other party instead of video. I'm guessing this feature is included in case the video call does not work like a charm (ie: slow video response) under certain conditions.

As stated earlier, the overall design of the N70 is quite elegant, to say the least. The stainless steel bezel casing is guaranteed to inspire more than a second look from onlookers. It's a very pleasing experience just staring at it if I may say so myself. And that alone will have people lining up for one of these units at their respective local distributors. The 262K color screen's brightness can be adjusted according to your needs and produces crisp, clear images. Backlighting of the keypad is excellent, thanks to a sensor which regulates the backlighting as well as the display, providing the user with ease of use when navigating at dark conditions instead of blaring at the eyes as is the pitfall of other phones' backlighting.

The five way navigation pad, though a joy to use, is uncomfortably situated too near above the number "2" key though. Hence it is easy to unintentionally press the number "2" key instead of the "down" directional key and vice versa. But this will far from hinder those wanting to own the Nokia N70 as the nice features far outweigh the negative aspects. And the situation of the five way navigation pad will only need some getting used to anyway as for sure new owners of this smart phone will have a hard time stopping tinkering away with the keys.

The 6275 is a sleek mid-range candy bar type handset from Finnish mobile phone company Nokia. It is one of several Nokia units in its class released during the last quarter of 2006. For one the 6275 is a tri-mode CDMA handset and has an integrated 2.0 mega pixel camera, far better than the 6630's 1.3 mega pixel shutter which was housed in a much bigger phone. SIM Card Generasi Mendatang Menggunakan USB atau MMC
(Senin, 27 November 2006) (4194) SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card atau kartu chip yang digunakan pada handphone GSM merupakan suatu objek yang sangat berperan penting, selain sebagai penyimpan nomor ICCID (International Circuit Card ID) yang unik dan menentukan nomor handphone, SIM card juga dapat menyimpan beberapa informasi lainya seperti SMS dan phonebook walaupun jumlah nya tidak banyak tapi cukup untuk mayoritas pengguna handphone.

Masalah dengan SIM card saat ini adalah kapasitas penyimpanan yang kurang banyak, saat ini kapasitas SIM card pada umumnya sebesar 16, 32, 64 dan 128 kilobyte, sekarang sebuah operator di Prancis yaitu Orange telah mengeluarkan SIM card yang berkapasitas 128 megabyte, hal ini merupakan pembekakan ukuran yang cukup terasa walaupun masih dinilai kecil jika dibandingkan ukuran penyimpanan media kecil lainya.

Jika masalah ukuran kapasitas SIM card telah bisa diselesaikan maka timbul masalah lainnya yaitu interface baca tulis SIM card yang saat ini hanya menggunakan protokol transfer data yang berkecepatan maximum hanya hingga 9600 bps (bits per second = 1,200 bytes per second), interface ini jika digunakan untuk membaca seluruh data SIM card yang berukuran 128 MB akan membuat penggunanya pusing menunggu, jangankan yang berukuran 128 MB sedangkan SIM card kita yang berukuran 64 KB saja jika kita ingin baca phonebook nya setelah baru menyalakan handphone harus membuat kita menunggu selama sekitar 30 detik.

Para vendor pembuat SIM card sedang ramai membicarakan tentang pembuatan interface baru untuk SIM card masa mendatang, ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) akhirnya telah menyetujui sebuah standard baru untuk SIM card yaitu USB (Universal Serial Bus), padahal dulunya terlihat bahwa MMC (Multimedia Memory Card) kemungkinan besar akan terpilih.

Apapun standard SIM card generasi mendatang akan mebuat para vendor pembuat handphone untuk dapat memasarkan produk barunya yang kompatibel dengan standard baru SIM card dalam kurun waktu paling tidak 2 tahun. Kedua pilihan tersebut antara USB dan MMC memang memiliki kelebihan dan kekurangan sendiri sendiri, pada USB maka keuntungannya adalah pin kontak yang dibutuhkan hanya dua yang membuat pin pin lainnya pada SIM card dapat digunakan untuk keperluan lain, tapi USB menggunakan tegangan 5 Volt yang artinya akan lebih menghabiskan daya baterai, sedangkan MMC menggunakan lebih banyak PIN tapi hanya memerlukan tegangan 3.3 Volt atau 1.8 Volt (low voltage MMC). Ada beberapa perusahaan yang telah membuat standard baru untuk SIM card tapi bersifat proprietary (special) tapi memiliki semua kelebihan dari USB dan MMC, tapi ternyata standard proprietary yang disodorkan telah ditolak karena takut akan adanya biaya ijin penggunaan.

Jika sekarang sudah ada SIM card 128 MB, maka setelah 2 tahun mendatang ketika handphone model baru keluar yang telah mendukung SIM card generasi mendatang maka ukuran kapasitas SIM card akan sangat bertambah lagi, mungkin mencapai hingga ukuran gigabyte. Apakah pada nantinya memori external yang sekarang digunakan pada perangkat handphone tidak akan digunakan lagi karena sudah ada SIM card yang multi fungsi dan berukuran besar ? Jika memang nanti tidak memakai memori luar yang berupa MMC/RS-MMC/MMC Mobile/SD/miniSD/MicroSD (TransFlash)/Memory Stick Pro Duo (Sony Ericsson) maka apakah kiranya nanti handphone bisa melakukan HOT-SWAP SIM card ? karena khan repot kalau harus matiin handphone untuk ganti SIM card. Kiranya siapa yang masih ingin memakai sistem 2 kartu seperti sekarang yaitu SIM card + memori luar ? silahkan berikan argumentasi anda.

MSD pro 512MB bisa jadi 1 GB dan 1GB bisa jadi 2GB. Sy dah pernah nyoba dan sukses ada yg mau nyoba juga ... sekalian share kalo ada masalah. Selama ini sy sih aman2 aja.

Ini kutipannya :

First of all, I am not responseble for any loss of data or any damage of your Hardware. But I can tell you that there is no need to be afraid that the hardware will be damaged. You can, if you have problems, put the memorystick in phone and format it in the phone and everything is ok again...

- Save your stuff from the memorystick.
- Put the stick in the phone (only tested with K750i)
- stick the phone to the cable
- start Disk Manager, you will see the formated and the unallocated space
- mark the Drive icon (of the phone) in the above table, where your partitons are indicated
- If marked, a X type icon appears under the "FILE | ACTION...etc" menu, the X type Icon is for deleting...
- press it and it will delete your partiton for the memorystick, then you have 1 big partiton which is unallocated
- now just make a new partion, and format it using FAT or FAT16
- thats it... now you turned your 512 mb stick into a 1024 stick

I tested it right after doing it and I was able to put more than 600 mb on it, but it had some problems, the phone went of everytime I turned the cam on. But thats actually it. I think its because I stored a Image file which was bigger than 500 MB... its working now perfect, I deleted the 500 mb big image file...
if more problems occur I will let you know...

MAGELANG: PT Indosat Tbk bekerja sama dengan PO Nusantara meluncurkan cyber bus pertama di Indonesia dengan fasilitas ruang pertemuan lengkap dengan akses multimedia berkecepatan tinggi.

Andi Samsul Hadi, Head of Central Java & DIY Region Indosat, mengatakan terobosan baru tersebut untuk mengantisipasi pelanggan korporasi dengan mobilitas tinggi sehingga bisa tetap menjalankan aktivitas rapat selama dalam perjalanan.

"Perangkat multimedia yang tersedia dalam cyber bus ini menggunakan teknologi 3,5G dan broadband Indosat sehingga memungkinkan pelanggan melakukan berbagai akses dengan leluasa," ujarnya pada road sales cyber bus yang diuji coba melintas jalur Joglosemar (Yogja-Solo-Semarang) kemarin.

Dia menyebutkan fasilitas dalam cyber bus, antara lain telepon dan faximile menggunakan kartu Matrix yang terhubung ke GSM modem dengan fitur voice dan fax.

Fasilitas ini memungkinkan top manajemen yang melaksanakan meeting berjalan dalam cyber bus melakukan dan menerima panggilan sebagaimana layaknya telepon PSTN di kantor.

Selain itu, lanjutnya cyber bus ditunjang broadband 3.5G untuk mengakses sarana video conference di kantor secara virtual private network (VPN) sehingga kerahasiaan terjamin, Internet dan intranet mobile dengan kecepatan data 3,6 Mbps.

"Fasilitas Internet ini dapat berpindah otomatis ke layanan GPRS/EDGE saat berpindah ke wilayah yang belum terlayani 3,5 G sehingga terjamin koneksinya tak terputus di perjalanan," katanya.

Andi menambahkan kelengkapan lain adalah kemampuan akses e-mail korporasi baik secara exchange server maupun POP3, melakukan download atau upload data perusahaan dengan aplikasi server internal perusahaan.

Juru Bicara PO Nusantara Andi Darmawan menjelaskan perusahaan menginvestasikan dana Rp4 miliar lebih untuk membangun cyber bus dengan spesifikasi khusus.

"Kami mengimpor khusus untuk cyber bus ini, yaitu Volvo seri B12 M bermesin 12.000 cc dengan kemampuan 420 daya kuda," katanya.

Menurut dia, cyber bus dibangun selama dua tahun untuk menemukan bentuk yang ideal, baik eksterior maupun interior bus berkapasitas sekitar 12 orang tersebut. Bus memiliki fasilitas satu sofa panjang, dua kursi putar, dua kursi permanen, satu kursi refleksi, dua tempat tidur, lemari es, dan toilet.

Setelah sekian lama di tunggu-tunggu oleh masyarakat Indonesia yang merindukan komunikasi murah, akhirnya PT.Mobile-8 mengeluarkan HP bundling ZTE C300 berikut dengan Perdana HEPI yang konon di klaim sebagai HP termurah.

Adapun Perdana Hepi ini adalah nomor lokal khusus yang dikeluarkan oleh PT.Mobile-8 yang digunakan untuk bersaing dengan beberapa operator CDMA lainnya. Keunggulan dari Hepi adalah menggunakan jaringan dari Operator Fren yang sudah terlebih dahulu sudah ada di pasaran Indonesia jadi tidak perlu khawatir dengan jaringannya.

Hp Bundling ini dikeluarkan dengan harga yang sangat murah hanya Rp.168rb, akan tetapi dikarenakan barangnya yang belum banyak di pasaran maka harga yang ada di pasaran saat ini sekitar Rp.200rb saja.
